LESBIAN GAY

On April 23 the Hotline completed its second training for new volunteers. Seven new women and four new men will be answering the line by early May. The new volunteers completed 14 hours of training that covers a range of topics including: suicide calls, domestic violence, cross-dressing and transgender issues, listening and communication skills, and a lengthy discussion on various culture, ethnic origin and gender issues. We welcome all the new Hotline volunteers and thank our existing vol-

We received our first check from Community Spirit, the long distance company-it was nearly $100! Thank all of you out there who switched to CommunitySpirit and designated the Center as the recipient of 2 percent of your long distance calls. If you haven't switched but have been thinking about it now's the time! CS is running a special incentive called "Check it Out" and, for a limited time, if you sign up for CS using the special "Check it Out" form, the Center will receive $5 per new cus-

unteers for being there for the nearly 1100 callers per month that use the Center Hotline.

And while we are on the subject of thanking people, we at the Center want to send a HUGE Thank You to the Spring Roundup committee for all the hard work they did in putting on the Country Western Extravaganza April 15-17. This event raised over $3,000 for the Hotline! Our hats and boots are off to you!

PRYSM held its second dance for youth April 29th at U4ia. The young people, program volunteers and parents are grateful to U4ia manager Lou Catania for dedicating an evening to area g/l/b youth. PRYSM is currently working on two new youth groups on the east side and in Akron. Adult and youth volunteers are greatly needed to create and facilitate these groups. Especially needed are adult advisors of color and volunteers with strong skills in group facilitation. A minimum commitment of six months is requested. If you are interested, please call Aubrey Wertheim at the Center.

A youth contingent will be attending Stonewall 25 in New York from Cleveland. If you are under 23 and need transportation or accommodation, please leave your name and number at the Center and a Stonewall PRYSM volunteer will get in touch with you.

tomer plus the regular 2 percent! We have the forms at the Center-just call and we'll send you one, or better yet, stop by!

The Bisexual/Gay/Lesbian Alliance for Disabled (B-GLAD), is a new group operating through the Center. The primary purpose of this group is to be a support group for the B/G/L disabled. If you are interested in B-GLAD, call the Center at 522-1999, and we will send you an application.

The Center will be sponsoring a "Developing Your Leadership Skills" seminar on Sunday, May 22 from 1-4 pm and again on Wednesday, June 22 from 6:30-9:30 pm. The workshop, presented by Toastmasters International, will focus on team building, motivation and coaching skills. There is no charge for the seminars, but donations to the Center would be appreciated. To register for the May 22 seminar, contact the Center at 522-1999 by Friday, May 20. The registration deadline for the June 22 seminar is Monday, June 20.

Center wish list:

Our cassette player conked out on us, thus we are music-less! If you have a spare one we could sure use it. Also, a small magazine rack, window air conditioners, copy paper, small fans, an electrician...
